·         Local Name: Also called true myrtle

·         Description: The upper surface of the leaves are small, hard, dark green with smooth edges and above surface is lighter green also it has stripes which are all located at the center of the plant.

·         Parts Used: Leaves and fruits.

·         Components: Leaves and flowers contain tannin (leaves 14-16 percent), resin and they are produce essential oil. Fruits contain vitamin A, tannin, sugar and acids.

·         Harvest Time: Leaves of the plan can be collected any season.

·         Geographic spread: It grows spontaneously in The Black Sea, the Aegean and the Mediterranean region
