  • General Definition: It is a small tree dropping leaves in winter and sometimes it can reach to 8-10m.Young shoots are hairy.Leaves are orbiculate or  large egg-shaped.
  • Used Parts: Fruits, leaves and seeds
  • Active Ingredients:  As a result of distillation of mahalep seeds, 27-36% oil and coumarin are obtained from processed weight of seeds. The oil contains ; 35% eleostarin acid and glyceride of this acid.
  • Harvest: Between June,July
  • Spreading Area: Central Anatolia, the Black Sea and Southeastern Anatolia
